2011 Ducati 1198 SP Superbike

Ducati has unveiled the 1198 SP Superbike at the INTERMOT Bike Show. The new SP model headlines the changes to the Superbike line, but Ducati also announced stock upgrades to the base 1198 model. The Italian marque revealed a higher spec version of its Supersport entry, the 848 EVO, earlier this year.

The 1198 SP replaces the 1198 S in the 2011 Ducati lineup. Featured upgrades to the SP are the addition of a slipper clutch and quick shifter as standard features, as well as an Ohlins TTX rear shock. These upgrades enhance a package that already includes the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Ducati Data Analyzer (DDA) systems.
But the biggest news with the 1198 SP is its cost – retailing for only $200 more than the 2010 S model it replaces. The TTX shock alone costs around $1400.

The base model of the 1198 also gets significant upgrades, at least from a value standpoint. The optional DTC and DDA systems now come standard equipement, as does the Ducati Quick Shift (DQS). All these extra goodies come without an inflated pricetag. The 2011 Ducati 1198 costs the same as last year’s at $16,495.The long-rumored Ducati Diavel super streetfighter will make its expected debut at the EICMA Milan Bike Show next month. The Italian motorcycle maker normally saves all its major model reveals for Milan, but usually gives visitors to the INTERMOT show something exclusive as well.
"We decided to consolidate our presence here in Cologne because we believe in the importance of this exhibition event, which opens the European motor show season," said Ducati President Gabriele Del Torchio, President at the firm’s INTERMOT press conference. "Our presence at the show is proof of our commitment to customers in Germany and northern Europe, and underlines our aim to expand in Germany, which is the second most important market in Europe for Ducati.”

American Honda Announces CBR600RR and CBR1000RR For 2011
Torrance, CA: American Honda Motor Company announced to its Powersports dealers today an additional release of three street bikes for the 2011 model year. These Hondas include the CBR1000RR, CBR600RR and Silver Wing® scooter.
“With this new-model release Honda expands its lineup for 2011 in many significant ways,” said Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. “These three latest models underscore the variety we offer to our customers. The CBR1000RR and CBR600RR both set the standard for sportbikes in their respective classes, and the Silver Wing creates an exciting large-displacement dynamic for scooter enthusiasts. These 2011 machines add a lot of variety to our new-model lineup, and I’m pleased to say there will be even more new machines to be announced shortly.
CBR1000RR: The Yardstick for Sporting Literbikes
With the CBR1000RR, Honda literally rewrote the rules for the sporting literbike class. The revolutionary CBR1000RR has established new standards for light weight, superlative handling, remarkably compact dimensions and exceptional performance. Also available with our high-tech electronically controlled Combined ABS for the ultimate in sophisticated sportbike braking performance, the CBR1000RR remains the yardstick to which all others are compared. Available in Repsol Edition, Red/Black and Black beginning in December.
The CBR600RR Sets the Standard for the Middleweight Class
